Tag Carousel

Directly under the cover, Wire shows a scrollable row of tag cards. Each card is a shortcut into one of your topics, built from the tag's own image, description and post count.

Customization Steps#

  1. Navigate to ⛭ Settings → Design
  2. Click Customize
  3. Click Theme
  4. Scroll to the Homepage section
  5. Edit Section tags filter
  6. Click Save

The default value is popular:5, which shows the five tags with the most posts.

Filter Options#

ValueResult
popularEvery public tag, the ones with the most posts first
popular:5The five tags with the most posts (default)
a-zEvery public tag, sorted alphabetically
a-z:8The first eight tags, sorted alphabetically
z-a / z-a:8The same, in reverse alphabetical order

Leave the field empty to hide the carousel completely

The same syntax is used by every filter setting in the theme, learn more.

What Each Card Shows#

  • Feature image — fills the card and is darkened slightly so the text stays readable
  • Tag name — with the number of posts as a small superscript next to it
  • Description — trimmed to about four lines, so keep it short
  • Accent color — when the tag has one, it fills the card in place of a missing image

Editing a Tag#

  1. Navigate to ⛭ Settings → Tags
  2. Click the tag you want to edit, or click New tag
  3. Add a Description and a Tag image
  4. Click Save

Keep Visibility set to public. Internal tags are meant for the theme's own features and are filtered out of this carousel by every recommended filter value.

Editions Are Excluded#

Tags whose slug starts with issue- are treated as editions and never appear in this carousel, no matter what the filter says. They have their own section further down the homepage, see Editions.

Section Heading#

This section has no visible heading — the cards sit directly under the cover. Nothing needs to be renamed when you change the tags it shows.
