Copyright
The copyright line sits outside the footer card. On a page that reads sideways it runs up the footer's right edge. On a page that reads down, such as a post or any page on a phone, it sits under the card. Break writes a default line, and you can replace it with your own.
Default Line#
With the Copyright field empty, the footer reads:
© {date} {siteTitle}. Published with {ghostLink} & {themeLink}.
Customization Steps#
- Go to ⛭ Settings → Design
- Click Customize
- Open the Theme tab
- Find the Copyright field
- Enter your text
- Click Save
Clear the field to go back to the default line.
Variables#
These variables are replaced when the page is built:
| Variable | Replaced with | Example output |
|---|---|---|
{date} | The current year | 2026 |
{siteTitle} | Your site title from ⛭ Settings → General | Harbour Daily |
{ghostLink} | The word "Ghost", linking to ghost.org | Ghost |
{themeLink} | The theme name, linking to the Break page on Prime Direction | Break |
The help text under the field in Ghost Admin lists the first three. {themeLink} works the same way.
Example#
Input:
© {date} {siteTitle} · Powered by {ghostLink}
Output:
© 2026 Harbour Daily · Powered by Ghost
Notes#
- Write the variables exactly as shown, with the curly braces and the same capital letters.
- The links open in a new tab.
- The copyright line appears in the footer only. The menu panel does not repeat it.
