Tags Page
The tags page gives each of your topics a block of its own: the tag's name, its description, and its six latest posts. Readers can see what you cover and what is new in each topic on one page.
Setup Instructions#
- Go to Pages → New page
- Enter a page title, for example
Topics - Open Page settings and change Page URL to tags
- Optionally add a description in the Excerpt field
- Click Publish
The page title and excerpt are only displayed when Show title and feature image is enabled in Page settings. The feature image is not shown, and anything you write in the page body is not shown either. The tag blocks fill the page on their own.
What Each Block Shows#
| Part | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Heading | The tag's Name |
| Line under it | The tag's Description |
| View All | A link to the tag's archive |
| Cards | The tag's six latest posts, newest first |
A tag with no published posts is skipped.
Choosing the Tags#
By default the page shows the 12 tags with the most posts. To change which tags appear and in what order:
- Navigate to ⛭ Settings → Design
- Click Customize
- Open the Theme tab
- In the Site-wide group, find Page tags filter
- Enter a filter, for example
popular:20,a-zorworld,business,tech - Click Save
See Filters for the full syntax.
Issue tags, the ones whose slug starts with issue-, never appear on this
page. They have their own page at /issues/. See
Issues. The tags of the markets tape do appear
when the filter picks them. To leave them out, list the slugs you want.
Managing Tags#
- Navigate to ⛭ Settings → Tags
- Click New tag to create a new tag
- Enter the tag name and slug
- Add a Description, which appears under the tag's name on this page
- Click Save
The filter keywords only pick public tags, so internal tags, the ones that start with #, do not appear on this page.
